Cruise business booming in Bayonne

BAYONNE - Passengers aboard the cruise ships in and out of Bayonne aren't the only ones getting a little extra benefit out of their vacation.

Local businesses are also seeing a big increase from the ships coming into port.

Travelers from around the country are coming to New Jersey to board the ships. Among the ships is Celebrity Cruise Lines' Silhouette, a 3,000 passenger luxury liner.

"When a ship like this pulls in it usually brings in about $1.5 million to $2 million of economic activity," Anthony Caputo, Director of Cape Liberty Cruise Port, said.

Two cruise lines operating year-round service out of Cape Liberty created hundreds of jobs for the nearby area.
