JERSEY CITY - Crossfit Jersey City has decided to pay a special tribute to fallen Jersey City police officer Melvin Santiago.

The gym is holding a fundraiser in his honor by hosting a workout in which participants will donate money.

The Crossfit Benefit is going to be held on Saturday, August 16 from 8:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m at Liberty State Park's north field, next to the 9/11 memorial.

Crossfit Jersey City's owner Michael Galant says the workout will be representative of Santiago, his badge number and the date he died.

Hundreds of people have already expressed interest, Galant says, and they are hoping for a large crowd to come out and watch too.
