Crime up on Rutgers' College Avenue campus

NEW BRUNSWICK - The busiest area of Rutgers University is also the area with the highest crime activity, according to a recent report by the school's newspaper.

The Daily Targum examined the Daily Crime Log, compiled by the Rutgers University Police Department. The report showed that College Avenue, George Street and Easton Avenue account for nearly one-third of the reported incidents. There were a total of 484 incidents reported so far this year.

Students tell News 12 New Jersey that they receive crime alert e-mails from the university and say the school has better lighting than it has in the past. They said they believe Rutgers is doing what it can to keep crime to a minimum.
