BASKING RIDGE - As the clock ticks towards the midnight deadline for power restoration across the state, crews are working to restore the more than 1,000 homes that remain in the dark.

Gov. Chris Christie set a midnight Sunday deadline for complete power restoration before he say's he'll take appropriate action with the Board of Public Utilities.

But for Perkins family of Basking Ridge, who just got their power back on today, it is a happy moment.

"Happy, big time happy," says Sue Perkins.

But in light of the amount of time it took to restore power, she wonders if New Jersey utilities are really prepared for this type of disaster.

"Do they have the manpower to service New Jersey properly," she says. "Do they have the equipment that's needed to service New Jersey properly?"
