POINT PLEASANT BEACH - A salvage crew worked Saturday to dislodge the commercial scallop-fishing boat that ran aground in Point Pleasant Beach earlier this week.
The crew has been working to dislodge the 77-foot Captain Gavin, which ran aground about a mile south of the Manasquan Inlet early Wednesday morning.
The crew's plan, which involves digging a trench and the use of a tug boat, appeared to be working. However, it's unclear when the boat will be freed.
Rough seas and high wind previously prevented a tug boat from reaching the vessel to free it.
Coast Guard Petty Officer 1st Class Nick Ameen said there were three people aboard when the craft ran aground, but no one was injured. Ameen also said that there is no apparent damage to the vessel and no signs of pollution.
