Couple meets dispatcher that helped deliver its baby

WOODBRIDGE - An emotional reunion took place today for the parents and dispatcher who helped them deliver their baby last week on the Garden State Parkway.

In a 911 tape obtained exclusively by News 12 New Jersey, critical moments for Nelson and Alshesherca Abrew can be heard where 911 operator Joe Russo instructs Nelson on what to do in order to deliver his wife's child.

It was Russo's first live delivery in his eight-and-a-half years of working as a 911 operator for the state police.

Russo says a dispatcher never gets an outcome as to what happens and the state trooper gets to see everything. Russo said it was "great for them to come in here to meet."
