Cops probe possible carjacking, police chase through 2 counties

EAST ORANGE - Newark police and the Prosecutor's Office say they are investigating after a possible carjacking in Elizabeth that led to a police chase through Union and Essex counties late Tuesday night.

Newark police say two officers were injured during the police chase. News 12 New Jersey has video of an unmarked police cruiser that crashed into a pole at the intersection of 16th Avenue and 13th Street, an incident believed to be connected to the police chase.

The chase came to an end in East Orange at the intersection of Central and South Munn avenues near East Orange General Hospital.

Officers from Elizabeth, Newark and East Orange police were on scene investigating.
