KENILWORTH - Authorities say a prank phone call led to a major police response in Kenilworth.
Police say someone reported that two people were taken hostage by a man armed with a pipe bomb on Newark Avenue. For two hours, police and the Union County SWAT team surrounded the home until they made contact with the man who lives there.
They say the man had no bombs or hostages, and he had no idea what was going on outside his front door.
