Cops: Hackensack man killed in wrong-way N.Y. crash

THE BRONX, N.Y. - (AP) - Police said a New Jersey man was killed in an early morning collision with a Massachusetts driver heading the wrong way on a New York road.

Authorities said Patrick Smith of Hackensack, N.J., was drivingsouth on the Major Deegan Expressway in the Bronx around 3:45 a.m.Saturday when he was hit by car going northbound in the southboundlanes. The 42-year-old was taken to a hospital where he waspronounced dead.

Police arrested the driver of the other car, a 26-year-old fromRoslindale, Mass. He faces charges of vehicular manslaughter anddriving while intoxicated.
