OCEAN TOWNSHIP - Ocean Township police are praising two men who they say helped try to stop a thief in the act. The two witnesses tried to hold down the suspect, but police say he was able to escape in a car and is still on the loose.

In the process, cops say the suspect ran down a man in the parking lot. Police say the man struck suffered a fractured leg, but is recovering.

According to police, the suspect was stealing credit cards and cash from unlocked cars parked during a statewide soccer tournament.
