Cops: 11 people arrested in alleged cockfighting ring in Paterson

PATERSON - Police say they broke up a cockfighting ring in Paterson during a late-night raid.

Officials say they arrested 11 people after discovering the illegal fighting ring set up inside the JC Pallet Company on Canal Street.

The fights were stopped before any animals were injured, according to authorities.

Police say everyone from the bird owners to spectators will be charged with animal cruelty.

For now the birds found on the property are being cared for at a farm in Sussex County.
