HARRISON - Commuters who ride the PATH in Harrison can look forward to a new station currently under construction, but it means years of inconvenience to area residents.
The current station is 77 years old and passengers say it's outdated.
Gov. Chris Christie was there Friday to mark the official start of work on the new station. Christie said the number of commuters using the station is expected to increase by 75 percent in the next 10 years.
New housing and the Red Bull Arena have added to the need for a more modern station.
The new quarter-billion-dollar PATH station will have a longer platform to accommodate 10 cars, as well as modern features designed to make using the station easier.
It is scheduled to be finished in four years.
