OAKLAND - A computer outage at the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission Tuesday caused a major backup at the facilities Wednesday.

The outage made it so that no one could get drivers licenses or other forms of identification processed on Tuesday. As a result many customers had to return Wednesday.

"I came in yesterday at lunchtime and saw that the line was a three-hour wait so I said I'll come back tomorrow at 10,” says Ringwood resident Joel Schwartz. “Came back tomorrow at 10, still a three-hour wait."

The Oakland MVC office is known for typically having very short lines, but lines were wrapping around the hallways. In Lodi, the line wrapped around the building.

The MVC also experienced computer outages last week. A spokesperson for the department says that the computers are now running normally.
