TRENTON - A computer glitch caused many New Jersey schools to postpone PARCC testing.
State Education Commissioner David Hespe said the technical error prevented most students from logging on to the computerized exams on Wednesday morning. He said the problem was with logging on to the testing platform provided by Pearson, the company that creates the exams, but did not provide more specific details.
A spokeswoman for the PARCC consortium, a group of states taking the same tests, said the problem was isolated to New Jersey.
Pearson says it has since resolved the issues and students are expected to resume testing on Thursday.
The shutdown came in the third week of a testing process that should last five weeks.
