LAWRENCEVILLE - Some New Jersey companies are trying to give the gift of banishing bedbugs from homes for the holidays by providing their services for free.

Once homes are infected, many find bedbugs can be incredibly expensive and difficult to get rid of. BedBug Central is hoping to help families focus on gift-giving with a program called "Take a Bite Out of the Holidays."

Cooper Pest Solutions is also offering its services this holiday season. Phil Cooper says that the company offered its services to a homeless shelter and is now taking applications from New Jersey residents.

BedBug Central says it will provide the services the weekends of Dec. 4- Dec. 5 and Dec. 11 - Dec. 12.Cooper Pest SolutionsBedBug Central
