JERSEY CITY - A community is in mourning and searching for answers after police say a boy was killed and his father injured in a shooting in Jersey City.

Police say 12-year-old Gywan Levine Jr. and his father Gywan Levine Sr. were approached outside their home on Rutgers Avenue by two men who opened fire. A motive hasn't been determined, but police believe it was an attempted robbery.

The boy was shot in the shoulder and died at a local hospital. His father was shot in the leg, but is expected to survive. Police haven't made any arrests yet, but are asking for anyone with information on the shooting to contact them.
