TRENTON - Last fall, former Wayne Mayor Scott Rumana was the topic of a Kane in Your Corner investigation.

While Rumana served as the mayor of Wayne, he signed a deal to provide energy for his own town. The company he signed the deal with was a company that he had started. Last fall, the legislative ethics committee dismissed the complaint, saying it didn't have authority over local politicians.

Now the committee will hear evidence about whether or not Rumana misused his power as a state Assemblyman, lobbying on behalf of his own company and not mentioning his position in state disclosure forms. Rumana says he was just trying to get lower electricity rates for Wayne residents and that his political opponents are trying to smear his reputation.
