LAKE HOPATCONG - The Lake Hopatcong Commission has found that the weather has kept the lake from fully recovering from drawdowns over the past two years.

The Department of Environmental Protection says that it would consider lessening the drawdowns, which are performed so people can work on their docks.

Lakefront homeowner Fred Steinbaum says state funding for the commission is not adequate, and that weed growth in the lake has not been managed properly.

The dangers of more weeds and less lake are crucial for the entire community, since the lake is the lifeblood for the area.

"We're hoping to see the lake get more support from the state of New Jersey," Steinbaum told News 12.
