NUTLEY - The Nutley woman known widely as the "Tanning Mom" enthusiastically spoke with reporters last night after learning a grand jury refused to indict her on child endangerment charges.
Patricia Krentcil didn’t hold back when telling reporters what she thought of the charges saying, “My child never tanned! Are you square?”
Krentcil was arrested last April for allegedly violating a state law banning children under 14 from using tanning salons. Police became involved after school officials noticed burns on Krentcil's then-5-year-old daughter's legs.
The 44-year-old said her daughter's burns came from the sun. She claimed she never would take her daughter into a tanning booth.
Krentcil called the entire ordeal, “ridiculous.”
The arrest generated wide publicity partly because of Krentcil's deep tan and professed love of tanning salons. Krentcil even said last night that a movie about the experience is in the works.
