BERGEN COUNTY - Health officials are warning about the spread of the flu as cold temperatures move into the state.

The highest totals so far are in the northern part of the state.

At Englewood Hospital in Bergen County, 330 people were tested for the flu in the past two months and 24 tested positive. All except two happened in the last month.

"The flu is always a little unpredictable and never does quite what we want it to do," says Dr. Jeffrey Kocher. "But cold weather early on that brings people inside - that always favors the spread of flu."

The flu is especially dangerous for the very old and the very young, as well as people with chronic immune and respiratory diseases.
