SANDY HOOK - The U.S. Coast Guard says three Monmouth County residents were rescued yesterday after their sailboat tipped over in the gusty winds off Sandy Hook.

The three, a father and teenage son from Middleton and a second adult from Port Monmouth, had been in the water for less than 15 minutes when rescue crews arrived, said the Coast Guard.

?The wind just got hold of them, very suddenly, and knocked the boat down so that it started taking on water,? said Clay Wilbanks of the Coast Guard rescue crew.

The men were rescued by the Coast Guard crew and taken to a local marina.
