NEWARK - (AP) - Attorneys are scheduled to make closingarguments Wednesday in the trial of one of six people charged in atriple murder in Newark more than three years ago.
Alexander Alfaro was 16 at the time of the killings. Jurors haveheard an audiotaped statement in which Alfaro tells police heslashed one of the victims with a machete before all three wereshot.
But Alfaro testified this week that a detective told him to lieabout his involvement to match the version given by otherdefendants.
The defense is expected to tell jurors that Alfaro was pressuredinto coming to the crime scene that night by his older brother,Rodolfo Godinez, a member of the violent MS-13 street gang.
The state disputes that theory and says Alfaro participatedwillingly.
