CLIFTON - A teacher at a Passaic County high school has been arrested for allegedly having a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old student.
The Passaic County Prosecutor's Office says Kristin Leone, a history teacher at Clifton High School, was arrested on Monday. The 26-year-old is charged with sexual assault, endangering the welfare of a child, two counts of criminal sexual contact, luring and enticing a child, and two counts of official misconduct.
Prosecutors say Leone engaged in sexual conduct with the child on two separate occasions.
Leone has been suspended with pay while authorities conduct an investigation. She is scheduled to be arraigned on May 15.
The Clifton Police Department is investigating this case along with the Passaic County Prosecutor's Special Victims Unit and the Clifton Board of Education.
