Clifton doo-wop shop plans to close

One of the last remaining traces of a genre of music that was popular in the '50s and '60s is about to take its final

CLIFTON - One of the last remaining traces of a genre of music that was popular in the '50s and '60s is about to take its final bow.

Ronnie I's Music, a doo-wop shop in Clifton, has been in business for 40 years. The Passaic County shop has been the go-to place for doo-wop fanatics.

The man who opened the shop died four years ago, and his wife has been running the store ever since. Due to the economy and declining interest in doo-wop music, she decided to close. Ronnie I's last day in business will be March 24. Even after the doors close, Ronnie I's will live online, keeping the late owner's legacy and doo-wop alive.
