CLIFFSIDE PARK - A Cliffside Park woman did not let health issues prevent her from having a voice on Election Day.

Patricia Marquez De La Plata was diagnosed with a brain disorder and had to undergo brain surgery six days ago. Part of her skull was removed, but she was determined to vote at the polls.

Marquez De La Plata says that she powered through her physical therapy in five days and was cleared to travel to the polls so she could vote for Democrat Hillary Clinton.

“To get out here and vote and to make a difference, that’s all I wanted to do because I didn’t know if it would be my last time,” she says. “I don’t want Trump to win. I want Hillary to win… I don’t think Trump will make a difference.”

Marquez De La Plata’s father says that he is very proud of his daughter and her progress, even though they disagree politically.
