TRENTON - The City of Trenton is hoping to fight violence with a "safe box" where people can drop off tips and information on anything from gun violence to abuse and theft.
The idea is in response to escalating violence in the city. Reports indicate that there have been 120 shooting incidents in the first six months of 2013.
Residents hope the safe box will encourage people to come forward with information.
Authorities blame a lack of police presence for the worsening issue. In September 2011, 100 officers were laid off from the city's police force.
