BAYONNE - The City of Bayonne has begun accepting pitches from developers for a large-scale construction project for the city.

Mayor Mark Smith wants to build on 55 acres of undeveloped land and create what he is calling Harbor Station South.

Mayor Smith refers to Bayonne as the "gold coast" of Hudson County due to the waterfront property and view of the Statue of Liberty.

The mayor and other city officials are hoping the redevelopment project will bring tax revenue and jobs. Mayor Smith also hopes it helps make Bayonne a "destination city."
