Christie: Stay home so crews can clear the roads

SAYREVILLE - Gov. Chris Christie is urging New Jersey residents to stay home so crews can continue their efforts to clear the state's roadways.

Christie made the plea during a news conference Saturday afternoon in Sayreville, where he discussed the state's plans for dealing with a monster storm that could drop up to two feet of snow in some areas.

The Republican governor said he saw some plows that had come to a stop because they were blocked by cars that had become stuck in the snow on highways.

Christie said some flooding was being reported in southern Jersey, mostly in Cape May County. But he said those waters were receding.

Christie also said the high tides on Saturday night were expected to be "less significant." And the tides on Monday morning would be "even less significant."
