TRENTON - Gov. Chris Christie signed 10 gun control bills into law today, including measures that stiffen penalties against those who allow guns to fall into the hands of children.

The hope is that the legislation will prevent tragedies like the one earlier this year in Toms River where a 6-year-old was killed by a 4-year-old who grabbed his father's gun.

There are several more controversial bills still sitting on the governor's desk, including an overhaul of the state's purchasing permit system.
