Chilean-Americans watch rescue efforts in homeland

NORTH BERGEN - Those that once called Chile home watched intently as the miners were rescued from a half mile below the earth's surface.

The drama that played out in Chile captivated a global audience, including those at Los Andes, a Chilean bakery in North Bergen. Those at the bakery watched the developments on the store's TV.

One customer, Marcela Prado, said that two of the trapped men are from her home town and that every time the capsule came up, she cried.

Another customer, Constanza Ayala said she was happy to see everyone from her homeland working together.
