Child used as aid in Sayreville robbery

SAYREVILLE - Police are searching for two thieves that appear to have used a child to help them steal from a store in Sayreville.

Surveillance tape from a Quick Chek in Sayreville shows a bald man, a woman and what appears to be a teenage girl entering Quick Chek.

The video then shows the man use the bathroom door as a shield for him to grab an employee's purse from a back room while the woman and boy stand as look-outs. He hands it off to his accomplice and she goes into the bathroom, where investigators say she stashes it in her own pocket book, then leaves the store with the child in tow.

The victim, who was working at the deli counter, says she's upset her purse was stolen because it had pictures of her children and her driver's license inside.
