Charter school in need of supplies has eye on the prize

JERSEY CITY - Students of the McNair Academy High School in Jersey City are asking for votes so that their school can win $500,000 for school supplies in a nationwide Facebook campaign.

The Kohl's Cares Competition will reward a school with money to put towards school supplies. Students are asking friends and family to vote for the school on Facebook so they can hopefully win money to replace outdated school books and other supplies.

Jersey City Superintendent of Schools Charles T. Epps Jr. disputes the lack of paper and the age of the textbooks at McNair High, but says the school has his support.

Voting for the competition ends on Sept. 3.

You can visit the school's invite on Facebook here.
