JERSEY CITY - A Hudson County judge has downgraded charges against a mall Easter Bunny who got into a scuffle with a father last month.

Judge Paul DePascale downgraded the aggravated assault charge against Kassim Charles to the disorderly persons offense of simple assault during a court hearing on Wednesday.

The case was also remanded to the Jersey City Municipal Court.

The Jersey City man had been playing the role of the Easter Bunny at the Newport Centre mall. Authorities have said Juan Jimenez-Guerrero attacked Charles when his toddler daughter slipped from a chair while getting her photo taken.

A video posted online shows them exchanging punches in front of the Easter Bunny Village display.

Charles' defense attorney James Lisa says they look forward to vindicating "the bunny."

An update on the aggravated assault charges against Jimenez-Guerrero wasn't immediately available.
