Karl Towns Jr. of St. Joseph in Metuchen announced his oral commitment today to Kentucky.

METUCHEN - The University of Kentucky's basketball team added another five-star recruiting commitment today, after Karl Towns Jr. of Metuchen announced that he's committing to the Wildcats.

Towns had four years of high school eligibility, but became the latest in a string of elite players to reclassify to the junior class and graduate a year early. This means Towns could play for Kentucky in 2014 instead of 2015.

The 6-foot-11 St. Joseph's star, whose mother is Dominican, represented the Dominican Republic's national team in Olympic qualifying last summer.

Previously the nation's top sophomore in the 2015 ESPN 25, Towns was heavily sought after by top programs such as Duke, North Carolina, NC State, Michigan State and Florida.
