Commuter bus, school bus collide in Old Bridge (1/11/13)

OLD BRIDGE - Investigators are returning to the scene of a bus crash that left 19 people hurt yesterday in Old Bridge.

The driver of an Academy Bus smashed into the back of a mini-school bus while driving the morning route from Lakewood to Wall Street. The school bus slammed into a power supply station. The Academy Bus went another 60 yards before ramming into a tree.

The Academy Bus was on the shoulder of the highway, which is a bus lane from 5 a.m. to 9 a.m., but commuters say the roadway is dangerous.

Old Bridge Mayor Owen Henry said in published reports that the site has seen several major accidents and needs to be addressed.
