CARTERET - The Carteret School District is coming under fire for renegotiating the salary of its superintendent.
Under the deal negotiated by the school board, the superintendent could eventually make as much as $200,000 a year.
The negotiation caught Gov. Chris Christie (R-N.J.)'s attention because the salary would go past his cap on superintendent pay that was passed earlier this year.
The number did not sit well with Carteret Mayor Daniel Reiman, who called it outrageous considering the current economic conditions.
