1 3/4-1lb chuck steak
1 onion, sliced
2 bell peppers (red and yellow work well), sliced
4 cloves garlic, smashed and chopped
1 28oz can crushed tomato
salt & pepper
*Season both sides of steak with salt and pepper.
*Heat about a tsp of olive oil over high heat in a grill pan or skillet, sear steak on both sides, about 2 minutes per side. Remove from heat and allow to rest.
*Pre-heat oven to 300 degrees.
*In a heavy, oven proof pot with a lid, add another tbs. olive oil, heat over medium heat, then add in onion, saute' until soft and opaque. Then add in garlic, cook for 1 minute and add in peppers and a pinch of salt. Cook for another 5 minutes, scraping up any browned bits.
*Pour crushed tomato into pot and stir until well combined.
*Season pizzaiola sauce to taste with salt, pepper, basil, parsley, oregano and red pepper.
*Nestle steak into sauce and cover with sauce and veggies. Cover pot, remove from heart and braise in oven for at least 30 minutes (depending on size of steak).
*Cut steak into 4 servings, top each with sauce and some mozzarella if desired and serve with good, crusty bread.
