Cara's Cucina: Dark Chocolate Stout Brownies
4 oz. semi-sweet chocolate
2 oz. unsweetened chocolate
3 ½ tbs. butter
¼ c. flour
¾ c. sugar
3 ½ tbs. cocoa powder
A pinch of salt
1 tsp. vanilla
2/3 c. stout beer
*Preheat oven to 375 and grease an 8x8 baking dish.
*In a double boiler or bagno maria heat butter and chocolates until melted and smooth, stirring to combine. Remove boil from heat and allow to cool to the touch.
*In a separate bowl combine flour, sugar, cocoa and salt.
*Once bowl with chocolate is cool add vanilla and eggs to it and mix well.
*Pour chocolate into dry ingredients and add the beer. Mix well with a whisk until a thick batter forms.
*Pour batter into prepared pan and bake for 45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
*Allow brownies to cool before cutting into 16 squares – enjoy with your favorite stout!
