KENILWORTH - A car crashed into the back of an A&P supermarket on Kenilworth Boulevard Wednesday, causing a gas leak and strong odor in the area.

The store was closed and evacuated. Police say the driver of the car suffered burns and was taken to St. Barnabas Medical Center for treatment.

Gas company crews were able to stop the leak and began repairs.

The supermarket has now reopened. Police have not released any information on the identity of the driver or their condition.
