A car accident lead to a gas explosion in South Plainfield earlier today.Police say that 25-year-old Michael Maher lost control of his car on Rush

SOUTH PLAINFIELD - A car accident lead to a gas explosion in South Plainfield earlier today.

Police say that 25-year-old Michael Maher lost control of his car on Rush Street, slammed into a garage and ruptured a gas main. Due to the rupture, an explosion occurred.

Police say Maher was charged with DWI as a result of the accident.

Authorities say that no one inside the house was injured and that the accident remains under investigation.
