ENGLEWOOD - Authorities are investigating a pedestrian accident on Route 4 in Englewood that left one man dead and another wanted, according to Bergen County Prosecutor John Molinelli.

Calvin Troy Dixon, 49, was struck by a large vehicle near the entrance ramp to Route 4 eastbound at Grand Avenue and was dragged to the highway where his body was found at around 4:15 a.m. Wednesday, Molinelli says.

The driver left the scene before police arrived.

People who frequently drive along Route 4 say pedestrians often walk along the highway, sometimes on the shoulder or curb. "There's no sidewalk on Route 4," says Aliza Ilan, of Englewood. "There's almost like a bicycle path, it's a very narrow line. And that's where they're walking, right beside to the line."

Drivers say many of the people are headed to or coming from bus stops.

All eastbound lanes of the roadway were closed while police investigated the incident.
