C&S Wholesale Grocers may close Woodbridge warehouse

WOODBRIDGE - C&S Warehouse Grocers in Woodbridge may shut down this weekend.

The company gave their employees news about the potential closure in December, saying 1,300 people could be out of work.

The mayor of Woodbridge is upset about the possible closure. He says the city made sure the company had every available resource from the state.

Facility managers say running the plant wasn't cost effective and one of its largest customers, A&P, filed for bankruptcy in mid-December.

C&S officials said in a statement that the company will continue to work with city leaders on possible redevelopment opportunities.
