Butler residents fight development on Route 23

BUTLER - New Jersey-based Quick Chek wants to build a gas station and 24-hour convenience store along Route 23 in Butler.

A number of residents are opposed to the potential new spot, saying commercial development is ruining their landscape.

Quick Chek estimates the gas station and convenience store would employ between 35 and 50 people. The project needs approval from the Butler zoning board, which could vote in the coming months.

In response to the opposition, Quick Chek says it has done traffic studies that show a new gas station would not create more congestion.
