MARLBORO - Police stopped a New Jersey Transit bus after someone saw something and said something.

NJ Transit spokesman Jim Smith says the bus was headed from Newark to Lakewood when it was stopped on Route 9 south by Marlboro police around 8:30 a.m. Thursday.

New Jersey State Police say someone had reported a suspicious package.

The 15 passengers on board were transferred to another bus and police closed a section of Route 9 while the package was examined.

Smith says a NJ Transit canine unit cleared the scene just before 10 a.m.
