Burress leaves NY prison for uncertain NFL career

ROME, N.Y. - (AP) - Former New York Giants star Plaxico Burress isout of prison after nearly two years behind bars on a gun charge.

Burress pleaded guilty in August 2009 to attempted criminalpossession of a weapon and was sentenced to two years in prison. Hewas released from an upstate New York prison Monday morning, threemonths early for good behavior.

The wide receiver's future was in doubt in November 2008 when hewent to a Manhattan nightclub with a gun in the waistband of histrack pants. The weapon slipped down and fired, hitting him in thethigh.

His lawyer says Burress will travel immediately to his home inFlorida, spend time with his family and continue working out whilethe NFL labor dispute continues. Burress wants to play again.
