LEBANON - A young kitten found burned in Philadelphia is receiving treatment at a New Jersey animal hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.

The kitten was burned over a third of his body, mostly on his head and back. Veterinary surgeon Wendy Ross, of the Crown Veterinary Hospital in Lebanon, says the 4- to 5-week-old kitten is sedated daily so that doctors can clean his wounds. He has also lost some tissue from his ears and a leg.

"But overall, his spirits are great,” Ross says. “He's eating great and he's playful and feisty and he's doing very well and I think he'll make a full recovery."

A $5,000 reward is being offered for anyone with information leading to the arrest of the person responsible for the abuse.

The SPCA tip line to report animal abuse is 1-800-582-5979.
