Burned Asbury Park firefighter receives skin grafts

ASBURY PARK - Family members say the Asbury Park firefighter who sustained third-degree burns while battling an apartment fire on Jan. 10 continues to make progress.

Firefighter Jason Fazio remains in critical but stable condition in a medically induced coma at the St. Barnabas Burn Center in Livingston.

City Councilman James Bruno, a family member, tells APP.com that Fazio has undergone a series of skin grafts.

Fazio jumped out a second-story window to save himself when a fire in a Main Street apartment flashed over four weeks ago.

Authorities said the blaze may have started from an electrical cord for a space heater or lamp.
