NEWARK - Newark police say about a half-dozen churches have been robbed in the past month, including Greater Providence Baptist Church and the Nigerian Muslim Council.

Among the items stolen were two flat-screen televisions, a video camera, $300 that had been donated to one church's youth program and food from a pantry that would have fed at least 20 people who are less fortunate.

In response, these places of worship say if the burglars would have come to them for help, they could have helped with bills, rent and food. One pastor said he is willing to even forgive those that commited the crimes.

Newark police have not said if the burglaries are connected.
