MIDDLETOWN - (AP) - The president of a county college in NewJersey has resigned after officials launched an investigation intoallegations of financial impropriety.
Brookdale Community College President Peter Burnham submittedhis letter to the school's trustees on Tuesday.
The Asbury Park Press reports Burnham said his retirement shouldnot be "construed as a concession or admission of" impropriety.
Burnham drew scrutiny from Monmouth County officials over perksin addition to his $216,000 salary that included a country clubmembership, a new vehicle and $267,000 for his two children toattend private colleges.
The 66-year-old was placed on administrative leave without paylast week after a financial review revealed irregularities. Thecase was turned over to the county prosecutor.
