BRICK - Monday morning at 7 a.m. will be a sweet homecoming for some Brick residents. For the first time since Sandy, residents whose homes are livable will be permitted to move back in full-time.
Unlike other barrier island communities, residents won't need permits to live in their homes as long as the house is already powered up and has water.
Permits are necessary if residents want to do construction on their properties.
There are some restrictions to go along with the 24-hour access. Ocean beaches are off-limits and the speed limit is 25 mph on all roads. There's also a curfew for pedestrians between 6 p.m. and 5 a.m.
Brick police recommend residents turn on their power slowly and change their smoke detectors.
